Visitor Visa in Canada

A visitor visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), allows individuals to enter Canada for purposes such as tourism, visiting family and friends, or attending business meetings. Canada, renowned for its natural beauty, multicultural cities, and welcoming environment, attracts millions of visitors each year. Understanding the process, eligibility criteria, and benefits of a Canadian visitor visa can help ensure a smooth and successful application.

Types of Visitor Visas in Canada:

  1. Single-entry Visa: This visa allows the holder to enter Canada once. After leaving Canada, the individual will need a new visa to re-enter unless traveling to the United States or Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
  2. Multiple-entry Visa: This visa allows the holder to enter and exit Canada multiple times during the visa’s validity period, up to ten years or one month before the passport expires, whichever comes first.

Eligibility Criteria for Visitor Visas

To qualify for a visitor visa to Canada, applicants must:

  • Have a valid travel document, such as a passport.
  • Be in good health.
  • Have no criminal or immigration-related convictions.
  • Convince an immigration officer that they have ties, such as a job, home, financial assets, or family, that will take them back to their home country.
  • Convince an immigration officer that they will leave Canada at the end of their visit.
  • Have enough money for their stay, depending on how long they will stay and whether they will stay with friends, family, or in a hotel.
